Nine years ago a grandfather of a student at Holy Family approached the administration with an idea. He wanted to encourage and support acts of kindness performed by children throughout the day so he made a donation to the school to be used to acknowledge these children. It was decided that the staff would write up children as they witnessed these numerous acts. These acknowledgements are submitted and monthly drawings are held. The children then select a charity to which a donation is made in their name. By celebrating these children’s acts of kindness during morning announcements and a photo posted on the Random Acts of Kindness Wall, HFRS hopes to empower these children to continue with this ministry. The school had maintained the program beyond the grandfather’s initial donation and just two years ago he blessed our school with another donation to continue his vision. Many of the charities chosen take the time to send a personal acknowledgement to the students in appreciation for their act. We believe kindness is contagious at Holy Family! Congratulations to all of the children selected this month.
