The Bishops' Response to the Reformation in Google Classroom

The Bishops' Response to the Reformation

Hi 8th graders! Can't wait to see you in person on Thursday. 3BD has Mass leadership this Friday, so all 8th graders need to be in Mass uniform on Friday.

We will read the article on the Council of Trent on pp. 144-145 in your textbook together on zoom.

These vocab words need to be recorded in your e-binder:
catechism, seminary (Please record the entire definition from the glossary)

You will then summarize the Council of Trent using facts from all 5 paragraphs in the article on pp. 144-145. You will create a virtual summary by creating one of the following:
     1) A virtual quad poster- title: Council of Trent, break summary into four parts anyway you like. Include one image in each quad.
     2) Infographic - title Council of Trent, organize the summary into shapes/topics in Google drawings. Include 4 images.

Just be creative. What I'm looking for is that you include all of the information in the article, so that if someone looks at your poster and reads it, they would have a good idea of what the Catholic bishops' response to the Reformation included and what the results of it were.

Divine Mercy Chaplet Part 2 in Google Classroom

Divine Mercy Chaplet Part 2

Watch the two videos below on Divine Mercy. Study the pdf below on the Divine Mercy Chaplet. Use these 3 to complete the Divine Mercy Journal below. You will also record in the journal the 10 facts you wrote from Tuesday's videos. For next week's zoom,  have a rosary handy. We will pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet. I trust that you will take this very seriously, because it is just that: serious. Any fooling around during the chaplet would result in a serious consequence. I trust that you will pray with me and for me, and for one another. Have a blessed weekend. We miss you.

You will be typing them into a document that I will attach in GC for Thursday's assignment - so don't lose them. There will be another video on Thursday and another assignment. I will post a document on Thursday which you will complete for today's and Thursday's assignment. The only thing you need to do for today is write down your 10 facts-  5 from each video.

You will also see an assignment for this week's trivia in the stream. Please type into your e-binder.

The Marks of the Church in Google Classroom

The Marks of the Church

You will read with the sub and highlight as you go on your own pages 94 and 95 in your Religion text. DO NOT BEGIN THIS ASSIGNMENT BEFORE READING THE PAGES. Review the meanings of the Marks of the Church. You recite these marks every time you say the Nicene Creed.

Check out the first page of the PDF linked below. It asks you to create some signs and symbols for each mark. Instead, do this again as a virtual quad poster like the one you did for pages 92 and 93 on the MIddle Ages. The PDF below is just an example of how it would look on paper. Everyone is doing it virtual this time.

Some of you used canvas and some Google Drawings. You can use any app you're comfortable with.

Please label the poster and each quadrant. Remember you are not copying images from Google and pasting them. You are drawing them using shapes or actual drawings. You may include text also. Make it beautiful!!! You may turn in here when you are finished.

Create an infographic in Google Drawings that is a biography of your martyr. Include information about your martyr's life and death. Use interesting facts and images. Your infographic should flow in an easy to read way using arrows. The arrows can also include text with side information. Below you can see an example of one I created about St. Stephen. I did copy and paste text for the sake of time, but I did alter it so as not to plagiarize. Your drawing should include several shapes and arrows. See the rubric to your right for guidance on what is required. I look forward to seeing what you create! I'm sure it will be much more creative than mine. You can search the web for different kinds of arrows or other images to help the reader flow through the text. This will be a project/test grade, and is due 11/24.
