Please watch the video below, which discusses 10 of the most important quotes found in "A Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens. It is important to note that these quotes come from the novella. The script we are reading contains the same quotes, however, a few of these quotes have been shortened slightly for performance value. Often times the Stave Number on the slide corresponds with the scene number in the script. The quotes come from both Act 1 and Act 2 of the play. As you watch the video, pause it for each new quote so you can locate the quote in your text. Place a sticky note in your book next to the quote and number it (quote #1). Recopy the first few words of the quote plus three dots like this, "I will honor Christmas in my heart..." This way, you know which words you are referring to. Then, explain what the quote means or suggests on the sticky note. Record the page number on your sticky note as well. SOME OF THESE QUOTES COULD BE INCLUDED ON A TEST! Failure to follow directions with the sticky notes could work against you. This is excellent preparation for a test where citing quotes and examples will be necessary. You may be asked for the meaning of a particular quote, what the quote suggests about Scrooge, or how it connects with the theme of the story. THE LAST PART OF THE VIDEO DISCUSSES THE "MESSAGE" OF THE STORY - THIS IS THE THEME. 😊 When you are finished with your notes, then click "turn in".
