Welcome to Ms. Abboo's Owl Room!

My name is Hala Abboo and I am excited to begin this year with all of you!

Catholic Schools have been an integral part of my academic and religious life since I was in Kindergarten. I feel extremely blessed to now find myself in a   position where I may teach and show the children of our community God’s love for us all.

I graduated from Wayne State University with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and a Social Studies major. I hold a ZA Early Childhood endorsement, as well as a master‘s in Elementary Education. This is my 12th year teaching Early Childhood, and my sixth year at Holy Family. I am proud to be a part of a school that places Jesus at the heart of education!

I strive to meet the needs of the whole child and tailor my instruction to reach a diverse range of students of varying learning modalities. I appreciate that with each new day come warm smiles, new and exciting discoveries, inspired ideas, and a renewed love of learning.  My passion is teaching young children, and the children make every minute of it rewarding!

Sight Word practice

Hi Everyone!

A few weeks ago, I sent home a pre-primer sight word list (green list). Please get in the habit of practicing them at least 5 times a week…these words should be memorized within the next few months before we can move on to the next list. Use them as flash cards to drill and memorize. Children should be able to read them, and use them in a sentence. Typically, we learn 1-2 of them a week in school.  If you do not have the list, it is posted under "Reading Group".

Picture Day-Monday 9/16

*Non-uniform, Sunday Best
*Send in your picture envelope or order online
*Bring in your Smile!
