Monica Belej: St. Andrew Church has been my home parish since I was an infant, and I attended Holy Family Regional School from kindergarten through eighth grade. I am a proud HFRS alumna (Class of 1990), and I can still vividly recall my first day of kindergarten in 1981.
With so many fond memories of my nine years as a Holy Family student, it was an even greater pleasure to experience this community once again as a parent. Both of my children (Thomas, HFRS Class of 2019 and Cecilia, HFRS Class of 2021) spent their K-8 years at HFRS. They were well prepared for high school and college, thanks to the solid foundation of faith, academics, and conscience formation that they received during their time at Holy Family.
I am the Immigration Legal Clinic Program Manager at Catholic Charities of Southeast Michigan, where I have worked as an immigration attorney since 2011. My husband, Marko Belej, heads the tax practice at Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP. I am also a graduate of Marian High School (1994), Kalamazoo College (1998) and Harvard Law School (2001).
Nancy Campbell: I have been a member of St. Irenaeus Catholic Church for almost 40 years. In that time, I was a middle school religious education teacher for nine years. Currently I serve as a wedding rehearsal and wedding day coordinator, scheduler for the weekday and weekend lector speakers, lector, and Communications Director for OCIMA (Overseas and Continental Independent Mercy Association). I truly enjoy every minute I volunteer for those regular events and the several other opportunities for service, such as working at SOS and Grace Centers of Hope.
Education is extremely important to me as I have spent my entire life in school. I attended Catholic School (Our Lady of Refuge and Ladywood High School) before pursuing degrees in education at Oakland University and Wayne State University. I have a B.A. in Secondary Education, a M.A.T. in Reading, an Ed.S. in Administration, and an Ed.D in Organizational Studies. I taught school before becoming a principal, assistant superintendent, and retired as Superintendent of Romeo Community Schools. In retirement, I now work part-time as the Associate Director of the Metro Bureau, a consortium of 81 districts in the tri-county area. My specific responsibilities include setting up presentations and seminars in the areas of curriculum and instruction for our members.
I am thrilled to join the HFRS Board in hopes of working together to provide the best education on the planet for the children in your school. I am dedicated to student and staff success as we continue the journey in building the optimal community for learning.
